Product Development Manager, Accessories & Lifestyle
About Blunt Cases
Blunt Cases is a fast-growing fashion and lifestyle accessories brand built around one idea: creating products that make her feel seen. We started with phone cases, but we're building something much bigger. Blunt sits at the intersection of fashion, accessories, culture, and self-expression, and we're rapidly expanding across new products, channels, and experiences.
Role Overview
The Product Development Manager owns the development of new Blunt products, accessories, merch, and packaging from initial concept through final sample approval. This role turns creative ideas, trend insights, and brand direction into clear product briefs, works directly with suppliers and internal partners through sampling, and ensures every product feels distinctly Blunt before it moves into production.
What They Own
- Own the product development pipeline from concept through approved production sample, including new products, accessories, merch, packaging, and product extensions.
- Develop original product concepts based on fashion, cultural, consumer, and category trends while staying grounded in the Blunt brand and customer.
- Build detailed product briefs covering references, materials, finishes, colors, dimensions, construction, hardware, packaging, and overall creative direction.
- Partner directly with suppliers, sourcing, and designers to translate briefs into CADs, prototypes, and physical samples.
- Review samples and provide clear, actionable revision notes across construction, color, materials, scale, finish, functionality, and overall aesthetic.
- Make recommendations on sample approval and flag anything that does not meet the intended creative vision, quality standard, or customer experience.
- Develop packaging concepts alongside the product itself so the full unboxing and presentation feels cohesive.
- Maintain visibility across all active development projects, including concept stage, sampling rounds, outstanding revisions, approvals, and final handoff to production.
- Maintain strong product development standards across briefs, reference files, sample photography, versioning, naming conventions, approvals, and project status.
Who We Looked For
- Strong creative taste with the ability to identify what feels fresh, relevant, fashion-forward, and right for the Blunt customer rather than simply following existing category norms.
- 4–7+ years of experience in product development, ideally within fashion accessories, handbags, jewelry, beauty accessories, lifestyle goods, gifting, or another design-led consumer category.
- Comfortable taking a loose idea or visual reference and turning it into a detailed, manufacturable product direction.
- Strong understanding of materials, finishes, construction, hardware, packaging, sampling, and the realities of working with manufacturers.
- Able to give highly specific sample feedback and confidently make judgment calls when a prototype is technically correct but creatively not good enough.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple development projects and sampling rounds simultaneously without losing track of details.
- Collaborative but independent. This person brings ideas to the table rather than waiting for the founders to originate every concept.
